Chodov - Chodov in Sokolov region will have a new train station building. Passengers will have access to a waiting room, ticket offices, and also barrier-free restrooms. Part of the construction will include building a parking lot for passengers in front of the new building. According to the Railway Administration, the estimated investment costs are 35 million crowns. The construction of the new passenger hall is planned for the years 2022 to 2023, said Patrik Pizinger (Local) to ČTK.

According to him, the city will not contribute financially to the project. "However, subsequent investments will arise from this. We will need to connect the area with sidewalks, solve transportation and public lighting there," said Pizinger. How much it will cost the city is not clear yet. "We will start designing once we know the exact location of the building. However, I expect it won't be dramatic," he added.

The project also includes the completion of an underpass that will provide residents of Hrnčířská Street access to the station and especially shorten their journey to the city. "Today, they have to take a detour of about one kilometer, which many do not do and jump over the tracks," said Pizinger.

The placement of the new building will also shorten the journey for passengers. They will be able to go directly to the platform after purchasing a ticket without having to unnecessarily return 300 meters back, Pizinger stated.

According to the mayor, the city will be invited to discuss the final design of the hall. However, it is unclear what will happen with the current station building. The city has no use for it and also lacks the financial resources to purchase it. The building belongs to the Railway Administration, which will decide its fate.

The entire project follows the modernization of the Chodov station four years ago.
