Pardubice, July 27 (ČTK) - A pivotal Wednesday is expected for the events surrounding the construction of a giant transshipment facility in Pardubice, which is being built illegally. The investor urgently needs to lease a small plot of land from the city, which is one of the conditions for obtaining an additional building permit. The construction of the first of five halls is nearly completed, and it continues without the consent of the building authority. Deputy Mayor Alexandr Krejčíř told ČTK that the Wednesday meeting was called at the investor's request.

"We want them to give us all the guarantees of our conditions. They must convince six councilors that they are sincere in order to agree to the lease of the plot. No decision will be made on Wednesday; we will see what happens next," said Krejčíř.
The company D+D Park Pardubice must submit its application for an additional building permit by Friday, but without a lease agreement for the city land, they will not obtain it. Therefore, an extraordinary meeting of the city council should be convened, which must take place no later than Thursday.
To complete all five halls, it is also necessary to create a new intersection on road I/36. The road is already overloaded. The investor has also committed to building a bike path and widening the inadequate road to the industrial zone. The resolution of all conditions, including the lease of city land, must be included in the application for the additional permit.
"Now it depends on whether the application will meet all conditions. Issuing the permit can take a month, it can take longer. We will, of course, operate according to the building law," said Aleš Ježek from the building authority.
The director of D+D Park Pardubice, Petr Dědek, promised that all workers would leave the construction site by Sunday night. Work continued there on Sunday morning. By the afternoon, the site was guarded only by security. According to Ježek, there are no builders on the site today either.
"The construction is standing still; today there were only a few workers polishing the concrete, it was necessary to treat it technologically, otherwise there would be significant damage," said Dědek to ČTK on Sunday.
The giant logistics center is being built in the Semtín industrial zone on 14 hectares. A total of five halls are planned to be built, with completion scheduled for 2011, of which the first two should be constructed this year. The first hall is intended for the investment client, i.e., the company DB Schenker. The planned investment is expected to cost 800 million crowns. If D+D Park Pardubice does not complete the construction work on time, they face a high fine from DB Schenker.
