Pardubice - Construction work continued this morning on the illegal construction site of a massive logistics center in Pardubice. The company D+D Park Pardubice had promised that they would finish the work by Sunday night. The Pardubice city hall considers this a breach of promises on the part of the investor, said the first deputy mayor of Pardubice, Alexandr Krejčíř, to CTK today. However, the director of D+D Park Pardubice, Petr Dědek, claims that the construction is halted. “I visited the site this morning and construction activities were still ongoing. I consider this a failure to meet what the company originally declared,” said Krejčíř, who did not want to anticipate the further actions of the Pardubice city hall. In the event of work being halted, the city intended to negotiate with D+D Park Pardubice next week about leasing a small plot of land that the investor needs. However, according to Krejčíř, negotiations are now unnecessary. “I see no reason to negotiate when they have not fulfilled their promises,” he told CTK. Petr Dědek told CTK this afternoon that the construction is halted. “The construction is stopped; today there were only a few workers there to grind the concrete; it was necessary to take care of it technologically, otherwise significant damage would occur,” said Dědek. According to him, approximately 120 people were working at the site during construction, now the construction is halted, and the company is ready to negotiate on further steps. Dědek previously stated that work on the construction would finish by Sunday night and that workers would only return to the site once the construction receives permission to continue. The company has been building in Pardubice without a construction permit since last September; the building authority has already warned them three times to cease work immediately. The Pardubice council recently decided not to lease the land to the investor if the company does not comply with the laws. At the same time, proceedings are ongoing regarding the removal of the building, which could end with the demolition of the constructed facilities or an additional permit to continue building. The massive logistics center is being developed in the Semtín industrial zone over 14 hectares. The first hall is expected to be completed by September and will serve DB Schenker. The completion of another rental hall was anticipated for this year as well. In total, there are expected to be five halls with a completion deadline in 2011. The planned investment should amount to 800 million crowns.
