The municipality of Radňovice in the heart of the Žďárské Hills has been considering the construction of a new chapel for several decades. This effort could now come to fruition. "The initiative to build this chapel, which is to be dedicated to St. John Nepomuk Neumann, came from the local community and local patriots such as Mr. Trödler. I am pleased that the construction proceedings for the chapel are at an advanced stage and I hope that we will soon see the building permit. The location has been selected in accordance with the zoning plan, in which it is also mentioned." says Josef Dvořák, the mayor of the municipality.
The new chapel will be located in the very heart of the municipality of Radňovice on a grassy area by the municipal pond Horňák. The approach to the entrance will be from the east from the road. The surroundings of the chapel will be complemented by a stone bench and a boulder. The surrounding buildings are very diverse and not typical, yet the chapel organically complements its figure.
With its compact shape and almost enclosed volume, it evokes a secure refuge and certainty of faith. It has a quiet, contemplative character, without ostentation. The architecture of the chapel derives from contemporary forms of sacred buildings. Its author, Marek Jan Štěpán, has been long involved with sacred buildings and is considered one of the greatest experts on these structures in our country. The architecture refers to central historical buildings. For example, the design references the interior space of St. Anne's chapel by Santini, which is illuminated by a central elevated space with a lantern. It is certainly interesting that a historical pilgrimage route passes through the municipality to Santini's church at Zelená Hora. There, a pentagonal system is also used as a foundational symbolic line on which the church is built. The number five plays a significant role in the symbolism in Radňovice as well; unlike the perfection of a regular pentagon, this one is irregular, referring to human imperfection.
At the request of the locals, the use of 3D printed concrete technology is being considered.
