Pardubice - The investor of the giant logistics center in Pardubice, which is being built illegally, today submitted a request for a supplementary building permit. This was reported today by Petr Dědek, the director of D+D Park Pardubice, to ČTK.
"We believe that the application will be successful. We have been in communication with the office since the end of last December and have received statements from all concerned institutions," Dědek stated. The final deadline for submitting the application was on Friday.
The city repeatedly set conditions that the builder must complete all work. After a long time, this has finally happened. The investor will only obtain a supplementary permit if they guarantee in the application that they will relocate the cycle path, build a road to the industrial zone, and ensure the construction of an intersection on road I/36. If the state does not build it by 2010, they must pay for it themselves.
"Now it will depend on whether all participants in the proceedings can be delivered letters and whether they relinquish their right to appeal. If everything goes smoothly, the permit could be granted in more than a month," said Martin Růžička, the secretary of the Pardubice magistrate.
The city has one safeguard that can potentially halt the entire project. In the fourteen-hectare area, it owns approximately 500 square meters, which the company wants to rent. The extraordinary city council meeting should decide on the lease within two weeks. However, if workers appear again in the future logistics center area, the investor will lose the rental agreement.
"But if the builder breaks their promise and starts building illegally again, all agreements will be void," stated Deputy Mayor Alexandr Krejčíř on Wednesday.
The giant transshipment facility has been under construction since last September in the Semtín area, commissioned by DB Schenker, which wants to keep one hall for itself and lease out four others. The entire complex should be completed by 2011 and will cost about 800 million crowns. The investor has repeatedly declared that the logistics center will employ 750 people.
