The construction industry has fundamentally reassessed its priorities over the last decade. What was once a competitive advantage is now becoming an inherent standard. Energy efficiency is no longer a topic for the chosen few, but a starting point. Complexity of solutions, emphasis on sustainability, and an increasingly strong architectural expression are coming to the forefront. The perspective on individual building elements has also changed. The window system has become an active element that co-creates the character of the facade and the atmosphere of the interior. It influences not only the technical parameters of the building but also its aesthetics and value. It is in this context that innovations come to the fore, capable of connecting performance, design, and long-term sustainability.
The carrier of these changes is the ARTEVO profile system from REHAU Window Solutions. It is based on a composite material, employs subtle geometry, and meets even the most demanding requirements of low-energy and passive buildings. The new generation of ARTEVO, which has undergone further developmental shifts, is characterized by right-angled lines, sharp edges, and reduced radii. Subtle visible widths and slender frame and sash overhangs support the visual lightness of the entire structure. The system is available in two design variants – classic with a glazing thickness of 56 mm and in a variant with a flush-mounted sash allowing glazing of up to 72 mm. The new profile construction fully utilizes the properties of composite material, such as high strength, torsional stiffness, and shape stability. As a result, in many cases, it is possible to eliminate steel reinforcement while realizing highly sought-after large-format elements – sashes measuring up to 1700 × 2700 mm (when using static reinforcement and bonded glazing). Another innovation is the option to replace the classic thermal module with a special recyclable Low-E film. Its coated surface enhances the energy stability of the structure and contributes to the overall efficiency of the system.
REHAU Window Solutions confirmed its role as an innovator at this year's Fensterbau Frontale trade fair by presenting new products expected to appear on the Czech market in the second half of the year. Among the most significant is the long-awaited robust and durable ARTEVO sliding-lift doors (HS portal). The system can be complemented with a new premium "zero threshold," which enhances usability comfort and the architectural purity of the detail. Another step in the development of the modular platform is the ARTEVO entrance doors with an innovative construction that increases stability and security. Together with window systems – including large-format solutions – a comprehensive product platform for contemporary architecture emerges.
Among the innovations presented at the fair is a forthcoming material innovation in the form of RAU-INFINIO, which further expands the structural possibilities of window systems. This composite material utilizes a core reinforced with long glass fibers produced by the method of thermoplastic pultrusion. The result is profiles with strength and flexibility approaching aluminum, allowing for large-format elements exceeding three meters in height while maintaining a slender design. Attention should also be drawn to the technology of digital printing using inorganic inks and UV lacquer. This gives the profiles high color stability and increased resistance to weather influences. Surfaces – from various gloss levels to haptically realistic imitations of wood – can now be reproduced in high resolution and consistent quality.
ARTEVO can thus be perceived as a new direction in the development of composite window systems – a technologically advanced platform that meets the current demands of modern architecture.
