Robert Konieczny
, architect from Katowice, winner of the WAN Award for 2006 and according to Wallpaper magazine, "one of the most interesting young architects in the world today" will present his works in Polish Cieszyn. The exhibition will showcase the works of the studio KWK Promes for the first time in this scope, including the latest projects that have not yet been published.

Robert Konieczny (born 1969) is, together with Marlena Wolnik, the founder of the KWK Promes office and a leading figure of this architectural practice based in Katowice.
He has received numerous awards, including international ones. The project Broken House, which he designed together with Marlena Wolnik, is currently being presented as one of the icons of Polish architecture in a traveling exhibition showcasing Polish architectural creativity around the world. The same project was nominated for the Mies van der Rohe Award in 2002. The project Open House (with M. Wolnik, 2004) and Atrium House (2006) also received nominations for this award. The latter building was also awarded as the House of the Year 2006 - this prestigious title was awarded to it by World Architecture News; Konieczny became the first Polish architect to participate in this competition.
This year, KWK Promes made it to the list of the 101 most interesting architectural studios in the world selected by the world-renowned magazine Wallpaper.

"All details, building technologies, structures, and forms derive from the main idea. Architects believe that this principle of creation allows them to free themselves from formal conventions and create a new architectural space and concept." (quote from Wallpaper).
Recently, the KWK Promes studio was selected by the Spanish publisher Scalae among the 44 best young architects in the world. At the second International Young Architects' Contest Leonardo 2007, the KWK Promes studio won gold for its Hidden House, which will soon be built in Silesia; the studio also received the Grand Prix from the Association of Russian Architects for the Atrium House.
