Vsetín - Paintings depicting life in the pond and on the lawn adorn the railway underpass in Vsetín between the local parts Trávníky and Rybníky. There are several-meter-high paintings of a bird flying over the pond's surface, dragonflies, and herons. The decoration of the underpass was completed by the artist Michal Filák, known by the nickname Prorok, Vsetín city hall spokesperson Jana Raszková said today.

Last summer, the artist worked on the interior painting of the underpass, and this May he completed the work with a painting on the facade facing Trávníky. "On the right side of the underpass, I depicted the lawn in such a way that it connects to the painting from the inside. On the left side, the environment of the pond is depicted, which also corresponds to the painting from the inside of the underpass," said Filák. "I tried to represent the Wallachian nature here. For example, we can see a heron, which can be spotted in Vsetín," he added.

On the walls of the underpass, there is, for example, a painting of a crayfish underwater, as well as a frog, and an overall view of the pond with the sky. In the lawn, there are dandelions, a mouse, a hedgehog, and a grasshopper. There is also a painting of a group of scouts sitting by a fire.

The city wanted to give the underpass a new and original appearance. "The painting has greatly beautified the underpass. It is often used by pedestrians heading from Záviše Kalandra Street to Alcedo and also to the nearby scout. The natural theme came naturally. We have received great feedback. We would like to continue beautifying other objects in the city in a similar spirit," said Deputy Mayor Petr Kudlík (ANO).

Filák has already created several smaller works in the city on areas designated for graffiti artists. The underpass at U Křivačkárny has also been painted, where people walk to the ice rink and sports hall, featuring sports motifs. The underpass under the station was decorated by children from elementary and art schools.

Filák has also decorated other cities with his paintings. For example, he beautified the underpass in the center of Zlín with paintings of famous personalities associated with Zlín, including architects Vladimír Karfík and František Lýdie Gahura, as well as Tomáš and Jan Antonín Baťa, Hermína Týrlová, and writer Antonín Bajaja.
