Prague - The company Mustela of Austrian developer Wolfgang Müller has suspended construction work on the multifunctional building Diamant on Wenceslas Square. The scope of the construction does not correspond with the valid building permit, as the building on the top floor is wider by almost 12 meters, according to the building department of Prague 1. Therefore, the building department of the first city district ordered the construction work to be halted. According to the director of the department, Oldřich Dajbych, the investor can approximately until the end of the month apply to the office for an additional building permit. Mustela's statement is being sought by ČTK. Earlier this year, it was expected that the construction of the new building with apartments, shops, and offices between the Koruna Palace and the Ambassador Hotel would be completed this fall. However, the builders, contrary to the building permit from 2005, expanded the top floor of the building by about six meters on each side. "The investor now has the opportunity to apply for an additional building permit. If approved, the construction will continue. If not approved, the company will have to remove the unlawfully constructed parts," Dajbych told ČTK. Until then, the investor can only carry out safety construction adjustments at the site. The new office and retail building Diamant is to replace the original department store of the same name from 1895, which was demolished five years ago. It is expected to offer 10,765 square meters of floor space, including 3,510 square meters of office space and 5,771 square meters of retail space. The remainder will be luxury apartments. Austrian builder Müller has completed projects not only in Austria and the Czech Republic but also in Hungary and Slovakia. In Prague, besides the Diamant project, he owns several properties on Na Příkopě street.
