Vysoká nad Labem (Hradec Králové Region) - By the end of September, a 30-meter tall observation tower should be completed on the top of the hill Milíř near Vysoká nad Labem, at an estimated cost of about 4.5 million crowns. From the observation tower, which will have a viewing platform at a height of 27 meters, there will be a view of Hradec Králové, the Krkonošsko Mountains, the Orlické Mountains, and the Železné Mountains. Jiří Horák, the mayor of Vysoká nad Labem, said this to ČTK today. "The observation tower will have a steel staircase, and the supporting elements will be wooden," said Horák. The municipality, together with the association for the renovation of the observation tower, has worked towards the construction for several years. The original observation tower stood on the hill for several years after World War II; it is unclear when it precisely disappeared. In 2011, the foundations for the new observation tower were built on the hill, costing approximately 700,000 crowns. This year, the municipality received 1.5 million crowns from the State Agricultural Intervention Fund. "We are still looking for additional funding, and we will try to approach sponsors or other institutions. In the worst-case scenario, we will cover the excess costs with municipal funds," said Horák. The municipality believes that the observation tower will become a new landmark and also attract tourists. "We believe that the observation tower will also be a stop for cyclists who will use the planned path between Hradec Králové and Pardubice," said Horák.
