Brno - The rough construction of the new Brno studio of Czech Television in Líšen, on the former Zetor site, is expected to be completed by early July. It is still valid that all 250 employees will move from the city center to the outskirts of Brno in the summer of next year, so that it can operate fully in the autumn, said Jan Souček, director of the Brno studio, at today's CT Council meeting in Brno.
The construction, costing 299 million crowns, started last November; in the meantime, the former administrative building was stripped down to its skeleton, and other unnecessary buildings were demolished, with foundations for the new buildings being laid. Construction is currently proceeding according to the planned schedule. "We are currently conducting a selection procedure for an external technical supervisor and preparing a selection procedure for the supplier of audiovisual technology and the company that will move the equipment from the current studio to Líšen and revitalize the entire complex," said Souček. Likewise, Czech Television is selecting an operator for the restaurant.
By January, Czech Television should take over the construction; in June next year, technology is to be installed, and a trial operation is planned to start in August. "More than two-thirds of the technology will be transferred from the current studio, and we need to purchase nearly 30 percent of the technology," stated Souček.
Czech Television will leave the studio in the city center on Běhounská and Jezuitská streets, where it has been located since its establishment in 1961. "If we tried to modernize the existing buildings that were built before World War II, it would be more expensive than a new studio, and we would never achieve an ideal state," said Souček. Once the studio relocates, Czech Television will offer the buildings in the center of Brno for auction or direct sale. The price at which they will be offered is not yet clear; expert assessments need to be conducted first.
