Brno - Czech Television has announced a public competition for the project documentation of a new television studio in Brno. The estimated cost of preparing the documentation is 21 million crowns. Companies can send their applications until January 28. This is stated in the information that Czech Television provided on the public procurement server. The new studio is expected to cost around 600 million CZK and is expected to be completed, according to earlier information, in 2013. Czech Television will select a company in the tender, and only then will discussions about the specific design of the studio begin, said CT spokesperson Hana Orošová to ČTK.
The main criterion for awarding the contract to the company is the bid price, which constitutes 60 percent of the evaluation. An additional 20 percent is based on the project schedule, and the remaining fifth consists of penalty conditions. Czech Television will open the envelopes with bids or requests to participate in the competition on January 29 at its headquarters in Kavčí hory in Prague.
In the actual tender, however, companies do not need to present a vision or outline of the new studio, the spokesperson noted. "The aim is to select a company in this competition that can handle such a contract," she remarked. The winner of the competition should be selected by the end of February 2010; if any of the unsuccessful applicants lodge objections, it will be later. The anticipated completion date for the project documentation is June 2011. This will be followed by an independent audit, approval by Czech Television's management, and the third phase, which is the actual construction.
The new studio of Czech Television in Brno will ultimately be located in Líšeň on the land that CT purchased in the autumn for 40 million crowns from the Brno-based Zetor. The total area of the land is 17,000 square meters. According to Czech Television's vision, the new studio should offer, among other things, news studios, facilities for television technology such as workshops, service areas, or archives, and necessary administrative spaces. "The building was supposed to include a new, fully variable multifunctional hall for the production of television programs," said Orošová.
According to some opinions, Czech Television should not have issued a public procurement but a more demanding competition for the architectural design. The Czech Chamber of Architects therefore sent a letter to Czech Television's General Director Jiří Janeček a month ago, offering assistance in organizing an architectural competition. According to Orošová, CT chose the path of public procurement on the recommendation of expert advisors. "We expect that reputable architects will also apply for this selection procedure. The preparation of the project will emphasize functionality, economy, and aesthetics," she stated.
