Brno - The auction of part of the Brno studio of Czech Television on Běhounská Street will take place at the Hotel International on October 20, with a starting price of 30.7 million crowns. The preliminary auction of the Typos Palace on Jezuitská Street, with a starting price of 70 million, is expected to be held in December, but a firm date has not yet been set, according to the auction announcement posted on the Prokonzulta auction company's website. The studio has almost completely moved to new premises in the Líšeň district. "The building on Běhounská is completely emptied, while on Jezuitská the moving is still ongoing. Therefore, the two buildings will not be auctioned simultaneously," said Jarmila Matysová from Prokonzulta to ČTK.
Interested buyers can view the building on Běhounská Street twice in September and once in October. An expert appraisal valued the property at 30,669,021 crowns. It was built between the world wars and originally served as a bank; the building is protected as a monument. Over the years, Czech Television has adapted it for its own operations. It has eight floors, one of which is underground. The total floor area is 3,160 square meters. Among other things, there is a vault with armored doors in the basement, although it is no longer functional.
The Typos Palace was built as a multifunctional building with apartments, a shopping arcade, and a dance hall in the basement during the interwar period. Today, only three apartments remain; the others have been converted into offices. The largest filming studio is located in the dance hall.
Czech Television has been located in buildings in the historic center of the city since 1961, and it was always a temporary solution. The television considered a new studio for several years, ultimately choosing the former Zetor complex in Líšeň. The investment reached 274 million crowns, partially financed by the sale of the abandoned buildings. Viewers will see the first broadcast of news and Good Morning from the new studio on September 19, and the grand opening of the new studio is scheduled for early October.
