Brno - Czech Television is likely to announce a tender next week for a company that will create project documentation for the planned new television studio in Brno. This was stated by the spokesperson for the Brno studio of Czech Television, Hana Orošová. Czech Television previously announced and then canceled the competition. The reason was disputes over the originally considered plots of land, which Czech Television ultimately abandoned.
Originally, the television station wanted to announce the tender by the end of October. "The deadline for announcing the tender has only been slightly postponed. We are finalizing the preparation of the assignment these days, and the actual tender will be announced around November 20," said the spokesperson.
The new CT studio in Brno will likely be located in the Líšeň district on plots of land, which Czech Television agreed to purchase from Brno's Zetor at a price of 40 million crowns. The CT Council unanimously approved the purchase in September. The total area of land in Líšeň is 17,000 square meters. According to earlier information, the studio will cost 600 million crowns. The completion date for the construction remains the same according to the spokesperson, namely the year 2013.
Just a few months ago, it seemed that the new studio would be built in Brno-Bosonohy. However, Czech Television ultimately backed down from that. The reason was difficulties in purchasing the land for construction. It was precisely in connection with the unsuccessful negotiations over land acquisition that Czech Television had to cancel the tender for the project contractor for the construction. The assignment for the competition was based on specific conditions that the plot of land in Bosonohy offered, on which construction was to take place "on green meadows."
In the past, the television also sought the area of the former Jaselská barracks near the center of Brno, where the series "Četnické humoresky" was filmed. However, it ultimately reconsidered due to the high price and unclear ownership relations. The possibility of placing the studio in the Brno district of Žebětín was also considered as an alternative.
Currently, the television is located in two buildings in the city center, which do not fully meet the needs of Czech Television. The buildings date back to the First Republic and have not been fully reconstructed yet. The Typos building on Jezuitská Street was originally a residential building, and the basement space, where the studio is now located, used to be a dance hall. The building on Běhounská Street formerly served as a bank. Furthermore, Czech Television has storage facilities and garages in Židenice. The aim is to sell all buildings and use the proceeds to cover part of the costs for constructing the new headquarters.
