Brno - Czech Television today ceremoniously opened a new studio in Brno-Líšeň. The investment in the building in the former Zetoru complex and the equipment reached approximately 350 million crowns. The studio has provided facilities for all approximately 250 employees. Both buildings in the center of Brno, where Czech Television was previously headquartered, will be sold at public auction.
The construction of the new Brno studio began in the fall of 2014 and lasted 16 months. The facility includes three separate studios. One is intended for news, the other produces studio programs. The largest area, covering 330 square meters, is occupied by a studio that will allow for the production of demanding dramatic projects.
"I am primarily glad that Czech Television is not just a Prague television but a television that pays great attention to the development of its regional studios. The fact that one of the largest investments in recent years was realized right here in Brno is clear evidence of that," said Prime Minister Bohuslav Sobotka (ČSSD) to journalists at the studio opening.
Of the total investment of 350 million crowns, 274 million went into the actual construction, 32 million into lighting technology, and another 45 million crowns into television technologies.
"By opening the Brno studio, Brno gains the most modern television complex that has been created in the Czech Republic so far. Thanks to this, there will be opportunities to work with the latest technologies and the newest news systems," said the General Director of Czech Television Petr Dvořák.
The Brno studio is celebrating its 55th anniversary this year since the start of its first broadcast. Czech Television will sell both buildings in the center of Brno at public auction. The total starting prices exceed 100 million crowns, which will return to the CT budget.
