Prague - The organizers of this year's Brno Construction Fair are struggling with a lack of space. The reason is the large number of registered companies and other participants. However, it is reportedly not a risk that they would have to turn away any further interested parties. Additional exhibition space will be created in the existing parking areas. This was stated by project manager Jana Ostrá at the press conference for this year's Construction Fair.
"We will need to look for alternative solutions for parking so that these areas can be used for exhibitions," Ostrá stated. "The area is still large enough for us to manage," she added.
By mid-February, 851 companies had registered for the fair, occupying approximately 59,000 square meters of exhibition space. The participation of 1,470 companies is anticipated, covering a total area of 69,000 square meters. "We expect one of the strongest years the fair has ever experienced," Ostrá said. Last year, 1,398 construction companies exhibited, occupying about 59,800 square meters of space.
Of the already registered builders, 164 companies were from abroad as of January, representing just under 13 percent of the total number. Builders will come to Brno from 21 countries. The individual days of the accompanying program will focus from an international perspective on investment opportunities in Russia, Poland, Slovakia, and some other countries. Organizers expect that the number of visitors could reach 100,000 this year, which is 9,000 fewer than in 2007.
This year's construction fair will focus on construction technology, residential construction, energy savings, and the presentation of investment opportunities. The fair will again feature the Urbis Invest project, which addresses issues related to investments, real estate, and technologies for cities and municipalities. Developers will also participate in the event, with discussions on topics such as developers' expansion from the metropolis to the regions or the development of the real estate market in Central and Eastern Europe.
The Construction Fair is the second largest event held at the Brno Exhibition Center, after the International Engineering Fair. Its next edition will take place from April 22 to April 26, 2008.
