The design for a new school for 600 children in Mstětice will arise from an architectural competition

Zeleneč - The design of the new primary school in Mstětice, part of Zeleneč near Prague, will result from an architectural competition. The building for 600 students is intended to primarily serve the children from the new residential development Nový Zeleneč. The construction of the school is to be financed by the developer, with estimated costs of 600 million crowns excluding VAT, said Zeleneč mayor Vít Šikýř (Neighbors for Zeleneč) to ČTK. The extensive project near Prague is expected to eventually provide housing for up to 4000 people, and will include civic amenities.

"The new primary school, which is essential for a project of this size, is one of the things we are currently discussing with the developer," said Šikýř. Negotiations on the planning contract, which are in the final phase, have been ongoing for more than a year. About a year ago, the developer was changed, and is now the investment group Progresus. "With the new developer, we have progressed much further in the discussions, which is why we have decided to announce the architectural competition, which should help align the requirements of both parties," added Šikýř. According to him, the construction of the school is a condition for entering the second phase of development, and the municipality is to take over and be the founding body after its completion.

In the competition for the design of the primary school announced by the Czech Chamber of Architects, the jury can distribute 2.5 million crowns among the best proposals. The deadline for submitting proposals is November 28. The municipality anticipates the tender for construction work no earlier than 2027.

Preparations for the construction of the new development between Zeleneč and Mstětice began several years ago. The project includes both family houses and apartment buildings, as well as complete civic amenities. According to Šikýř, the project has changed many times. "Currently, the developer has valid permits for the infrastructure, but not for residential buildings," he added. After the planning agreement is completed, the municipality intends to present the entire project in a public presentation. There are more than 3000 people living in Zeleneč.
