The Regional Gallery of Fine Arts in Zlín is preparing the exhibition House of Art III – Place, Body, Time. It is planned for this autumn in Building 14 of the Zlín Bata Institute and in the Kolektiv.House building in Zlín, announced the gallery's spokesperson Zuzana Bílá to ČTK.
"House of Art III continues the previous projects of the House of Art cycle and focuses on the relationship between contemporary art, space, perception, and the active role of visitors. The exhibition will connect works by approximately thirty authors from different generations and media — from traditionally framed paintings and autonomous objects to processual, installation, and spatially variable forms of work," said project curator Jan Freiberg.
In addition to classic forms of presentation, the project will also reflect trends that work with installation, the rhythm of space, and audience experience. "The project seeks to navigate through these different positions of contemporary art as a unified whole. Therefore, the exhibition will primarily work with experience, the rhythm of the space, and the interrelationships of the works," Freiberg stated.
The gallery has announced an open architectural competition for the proposal of a spatial solution for the House of Art III exhibition. Submissions can be sent until June 8. The call is aimed at architects, designers, artists, and teams working at the intersection of architecture, installation, and spatial art.
"The assignment also includes a proposal for an authorial spatial situation Place, which can function as an autonomous space or as a principle permeating the entire architecture of the exhibition. The project develops the theme of the exhibition towards questions of calmness, attention, and shared space. The work with seating furniture, the possibility of slowing down, and the transformation of the usual visitor regime in the gallery will play a significant role," the curator noted.
