The former Baťa department store in the historical center of Olomouc will be transformed into a residential building with 60 apartments, three studios, and a shop by Heritage Real Estates. The Olomouc City Hall has already started the permitting process for the construction proposal. ČTK obtained this information today from the city hall's official board.
The project includes the renovation of the historical part of the former department store on Riegrova Street and the demolition of the modern annex in the courtyard, which will be replaced by a new building. The preserved original street-facing part of the building from the 1930s will maintain its current height after extensive reconstruction. After the renovation, the building will have up to seven above-ground floors, including a recessed top floor.
The renovated building will feature apartments of various sizes, while the ground floor will remain occupied by a shop available for rent. The project also includes 58 parking spaces, and the investor plans to incorporate a bike room, basement storage units, green roofs in the courtyard, and preparations for electric vehicle charging.
The Baťa department store at the corner of Riegrova Street and Horní náměstí is one of the significant functionalist buildings in the center of Olomouc. It has been vacant for several months, having previously housed a shoe store. Most recently, the ground floor was leased to the German retail chain NKD.
The Zlín-based company Heritage Real Estates specializes in development, management, and leasing of properties. The company was established in 2014 and is headquartered in the area of the former Baťa factories in Zlín.
