Brno - Brno records three applications for participation in the concession procedure for the construction of a new football stadium at Lužánky. Today marked the end of the application submission period. In a press release, spokesperson Filip Poňuchálek informed about this today, without naming the companies. The city council of Brno approved the conditions for the concession procedure last November. According to them, the future investor will acquire the necessary land, construct the sports facility at their own expense, and operate it. The option at Lužánky, where a dilapidated stadium stands, has returned to the table due to the interest of the new owner of Brno's Zbrojovka to finance the project.
The application deadline ended at 3:00 PM. According to the spokesperson, an assessment will follow to determine whether the applicants meet the qualification requirements. "After that, the negotiation phase will begin, during which all terms of cooperation will be discussed with the qualified suppliers," said the spokesperson. Finally, the deadline for the submission of final offers will be determined after all conditions have been discussed, and it is now anticipated for July 2026.
The city owns all the land in the area behind Lužánky. To legally ensure the construction and operation of the football stadium, it is necessary to address their sale through the concession procedure. "It will guarantee that a stadium will be built there and the city and the investor will have clearly defined conditions for the use of the affected land," previously stated Mayor Markéta Vaňková (ODS).
The area behind Lužánky is burdened mainly by a dispute over land ownership with entrepreneur Libor Procházka. To build the stadium, it will be necessary to resolve the dispute definitively. The preparation of the entire project and the stadium will be in the hands of the winner of the concession procedure. The city will continue to be ready to provide all support and cooperation to the future investor, the city hall stated earlier.
