Luhačovice (Zlínsko) - The spa town of Luhačovice ceremoniously opened a new indoor swimming pool with year-round operation on Friday. The investment amounted to 125 million CZK, with European grants totaling 82 million. Luhačovice thus becomes a spa town with year-round operation, said Mayor František Hubáček (ODS) to ČTK today. The construction of the indoor pool took approximately 14 months. The facility has been built on the site of the former public swimming pool. It offers visitors a classic 25-meter pool, a leisure pool with water attractions, a whirlpool, a children's pool, and a steam sauna. "Once, the spas (Luhačovice) functioned as summer spas. With the construction of hotels that operate year-round, Luhačovice has become a year-round spa town. We expect that this pool will offer visitors who come in autumn, winter, or spring something extra," noted Hubáček. The operational hours of the Luhačovice pool will be from 06:00 to 21:00. On weekdays until 08:00, it will be used for fitness swimming, until 14:00 for schools, and then open to the public. The facility is operated by the city's contribution organization, Sportovní centrum Radostova. The basic hourly admission fee is 60 crowns; on weekends, people will pay ten crowns more. The Luhačovice indoor pool is part of a joint project between the spa and the nearby town of Pozlovice, which opened an outdoor swimming pool by the dam this summer.
