Brno plans to build three new kindergartens for hundreds of children

Brno - Three new kindergartens will be built in Brno for hundreds of children. Brno city councillors approved the procurement process for the project documentation of the kindergarten on Kamenný vrch in Nový Lískovec and on Dělostřelecká Street in Královo Pole today. Construction could begin in 2028. The council also approved an investment plan for the construction of a new kindergarten on Soukenická Street, the city hall announced in press releases today.

The new kindergarten on Kamenný vrch, costing more than 98 million crowns, is expected to have two above-ground floors and a green roof. There will also be parking spaces nearby. "The Kamenný vrch kindergarten on Petra Křivka Street is planned to have four classrooms for a total of 100 children. In addition, a dining hall and operational facilities, a smaller gym, and administrative spaces are planned," said Brno's mayor Markéta Vaňková (ODS). The kindergarten is being built due to construction in the surrounding area. More than 300 apartments are expected to be added there by 2029. Brno is currently looking for a contractor.

Preparation for the Dělostřelecká Kindergarten in Královo Pole is also underway. "The facility will accommodate eight to nine classrooms, so the maximum capacity will be 225 children. At the same time, a garden with play elements and other necessary transport-technical infrastructure will be built there," said the councillor for education Irena Matonohová (STAN). Costs are expected to be around 161 million crowns. If everything goes according to plan, the kindergartens could begin construction in 2028.

The councillors also approved an investment plan for the construction of a kindergarten on Soukenická Street for about 100 children. The city is responding to the shortage of preschools in the Brno-střed district. The two-story building, costing 120 million crowns excluding tax, will include four classrooms, according to Vaňková. A riding circuit will be created in the garden, for example, for riding scooters.

The city also plans to increase the capacities of the Cihelní kindergarten in Maloměřice and Obřany. The councillors approved an investment plan for an extension that will increase the capacity by 50 children.
