Hradec Králové – A new sports hall with parking in Hradec Králové in the Pouchov area will cost 46.8 million crowns excluding VAT. Construction is set to start in spring, with completion anticipated in mid-2021. The leadership of Hradec Králové has approved the winner of the construction competition. Six companies applied for the tender. The spokesperson for the city hall, Kateřina Šmídová, reported this to ČTK today after a city council meeting.

According to information from ČTK, the contract was won by the company STYLBAU, and the city hall did not comment on this. "Before signing the contract with the selected contractor, the results will be discussed at the city council meeting in January," Šmídová stated.

The new sports hall will be built on the site of the demolished sokolovna, which the city had removed last summer. The construction of the gymnasium in Pouchov has been in preparation for several years. "If everything goes according to plan regarding the signing of the contract and the handover of the construction site, construction could begin in April. According to the contract, the contractor then has 16 months for construction and occupancy," said Jiří Bláha (ODS), the deputy mayor for investments.

The sports hall, covering the area of two volleyball courts with modern gymnasium parameters and facilities for athletes, will have a parking lot with 46 spaces. Half will be designated for visitors to the facility on-site, while the other half located outside will be available to the public, representatives of the city hall stated.

The hall is designed for 45 trainees and 60 spectators. The main user of the new gym should be TJ Sokol Pouchov Hradec Králové, based on a lease agreement, which has approximately 350 active athletes.

The former wooden sokolovna dated back to the mid-20th century and had been in an unsuitable condition for several decades.
