The Linhartovy Castle in Bruntál after reconstruction opened new spaces

The Town of Albrechtice – The Linhartovy Castle in the Town of Albrechtice in the Bruntál region reopened to the public today after another phase of reconstruction. The costs exceeded 20 million crowns. For the first time, visitors can explore new spaces that underwent extensive restoration in recent months. The latest phase also includes a new information reception area, a planned café facility, and modern features aimed at making the tours more attractive, especially for families with children, as stated by curator Andrea Rzymanková.

"We repaired five rooms on the first floor. This was a complete reconstruction. We then equipped the rooms with audiovisual technology and virtual reality," she said. The construction work included, among other things, new ceilings, electrical installations, surface modifications, and other technical facilities necessary for modern visitor operations.

The Mayor of the Town of Albrechtice, Jana Murová (ANO), told ČTK that the costs for the fourth phase exceeded 20 million crowns. "We acquired the castle in 2001 for one crown. Since then, 100 million crowns have been invested in it," she said. She added that an additional investment of 200 million crowns is still needed for the heritage site.

A significant new feature is the information reception area, which is designed to provide visitors with basic information about the castle and the surrounding area. It will be followed by a castle café. Its interior is intended to recall the historical context of the site and expand the services offered by the castle to visitors.

The new phase of restoration also brings a more pronounced use of modern technologies. The castle spaces will feature interactive screens, audiovisual elements, projections, holographic technology, and virtual reality. These technologies aim to offer visitors a different way of learning about the history of the castle and the region.

"We did not want to just repair more rooms. The goal was also to create a facility that would enable the castle to offer visitors more services and a more modern way of presenting history," said the curator.

The opening of the new spaces represents another step in the long-term restoration of the heritage site, which is owned by the Town of Albrechtice. The reconstruction of the castle is taking place in several phases. The current phase follows previous extensive construction work and focuses primarily on completing the interiors and creating a new visitor facility.

Part of a broader project also includes cross-border cooperation with Polish partners. The project Silesia without Borders IV – In the Footsteps of the White Lady works, among other things, with new forms of presenting cultural heritage and utilizing digital technologies.

With today's reopening, Linhartovy Castle aims to connect the historic environment of the Renaissance monument with modern visitor operations. The new spaces are intended to be used for exhibitions, history presentations, and other cultural and social activities.
