The rough construction of the sports hall in Hradec Králové will be finished by winter

Hradec Králové - The construction of a new sports hall in Hradec Králové in the Pouchov district has progressed, and its shape and size are already visible. The rough construction should be completed before winter. Builders are currently working on the cladding and roof of the hall. Kateřina Šmídová, spokesperson for the city hall, told ČTK. The hall is expected to cost nearly 50 million crowns excluding VAT, which is currently one of the main investments of the city.

Construction of the hall began in April, but after a month it was halted due to high groundwater levels. After completing the foundation project with concrete piles, work resumed in July. The completion date has been pushed back by two months to the autumn of 2021. Since the work resumed, the construction has been proceeding according to plan, with nearly ten million crowns already spent, the spokesperson stated. After the rough construction is finished, workers will start working inside the hall on installations, floors, and plastering.

Builders from the Pardubice company Stylbau are constructing the hall on the site of a wooden Sokol gymnasium, which the city had demolished last year. The gymnasium dated back to the mid-20th century and had been in an unsatisfactory condition for several decades.

The new sports hall will have an area equivalent to two volleyball courts, designed for 45 trainees and 60 spectators. The construction also includes a parking lot with 46 spaces. The main user of the hall will be TJ Sokol Pouchov Hradec Králové, which has about 350 active athletes.

The city's main investment in sports facilities is the construction of a football arena on the site of the semi-demolished multi-sport stadium. At the end of October, the city received applications from construction companies for the competition and is now evaluating them. The cost of the football stadium should be a maximum of 605 million crowns excluding VAT.
