Hradec Králové - The representatives of Hradec Králové today approved the announcement of a competition for the construction of a sports hall in the Pouchov district for an estimated 55 million crowns excluding VAT. The actual construction could begin in the spring of next year. It will be on the site of the sokolovna, which the city demolished last summer due to its dilapidated condition. The city has been preparing the construction of the gym in Pouchov for several years.
The construction of the hall is expected to last 16 months. "In favorable conditions, it could be completed in the summer of 2021," said Jiří Bláha (ODS), the deputy mayor for investments. He added that before the work begins, the builders must relocate electricity and telecommunications and complete the connections to the original sokolovna.
The hall will have the parameters of a modern gym, in which it will be possible to use two volleyball courts at the same time. The construction will also include appropriate facilities for athletes and a parking lot with a capacity of 46 spaces. The hall is designed for 45 practitioners and 60 spectators.
The former wooden sokolovna dates back to the middle of the last century and had been in inadequate condition for several decades. The main user of the new gym should be TJ Sokol Pouchov Hradec Králové based on a lease agreement, which has around 350 active athletes.
