Bojkovice (Uherskohradišťsko) - The Free Citizens' Association Club of Bojkovice Skeptics today opened a new observation tower on Skalka in Bojkovice in the Slovácko region. The construction of the approximately ten-meter-high observation point made of spruce wood cost about two million crowns. When it's clear, there is a beautiful view from here of the valley from Uherský Brod to Pálava, said Jaroslav Staník, the deputy mayor of Bojkovice, to ČTK. "The Club of Bojkovice Skeptics has previously cleaned and made the Hlouběnka spring accessible. Now, thanks to its initiative, a new observation point has been created. The city provided the wood, and sponsors and volunteers contributed in terms of labor and finances," said Staník. He is not concerned that the wooden structure will require urgent maintenance after a few years like the nearby observation tower on the Great Lopeník hill, which is threatened by mold and rot and for which the municipality has been unsuccessfully seeking funds for a new coat of paint for years. "We have already painted it beforehand to prevent it from rotting. I hope that there will always be money for its maintenance. It is a beautiful place that will surely become a destination for many tourists. It's truly worth a visit," the deputy mayor commented. In addition to the newly built observation tower, Bojkovice has had a new attraction since June of this year in the form of the renovated Nový Světlov castle. The owner has renovated it and opened it to the public. Concerts and other social events are also held there.
