Buštěhrad - In the autumn, further modifications will begin on the central part of the Buštěhrad castle. Office spaces and a meeting room are to be created in the premises. The work will last until 2021, said Buštěhrad Mayor Daniela Javorčeková to ČTK today. The contracting company was selected by the city in a tender, and costs will reach almost five million crowns excluding VAT.

Part of the costs will be covered by a grant from the Central Bohemian Region, and the city plans to apply for additional grants.

Buštěhrad already has a project for the renovation of the remaining part of the castle, the eastern wing. However, this case involves an investment worth tens of millions of crowns, so obtaining a grant is a condition for starting the work. The city has applied for it, but was unsuccessful in the current grant call. The spaces are to serve the practical school branch, the pedagogical-psychological counseling center, and local scouts. "We will have to try another grant call," said the mayor.

The western wing of the castle houses the Buštěhrad city office, while the recently opened information center is located in the central part. The entire castle has belonged to the city since 2017, when the region transferred back the part it had received from the city in 2010 free of charge. The then leadership of the regional authority wanted to turn the monument into a representative regional seat, which ultimately did not happen. The building is known from the corruption case of former governor David Rath (formerly of ČSSD).
