Part of the Buštěhrad Castle is still waiting for repairs, as suitable grants are missing.

Buštěhrad – Part of the Buštěhrad Castle, which belongs to the town, is still awaiting repairs, lacking suitable subsidies. According to Mayor Daniela Javorčeková, there are no grant calls for ordinary heritage sites even in the new period of European subsidies. The town is currently exploring, for example, the possibility of obtaining grants for educational facilities, the mayor told ČTK.

"We are checking if there is any call for educational facilities, so that we could try again to apply our project for a practical school," Javorčeková stated. In recent years, Buštěhrad has repaired several castle spaces; the eastern wing is still waiting for reconstruction, for which the town applied for a grant in 2019 specifically with a project for the establishment of a branch of a practical school and also a psycho-pedagogical counseling center. At that time, the application was unsuccessful.

The castle is used, for example, by the Buštěhrad city office, specifically its western wing. In the central part, there is an information center and, for example, offices. The Central Bohemian Region transferred part of the property back to the town free of charge in 2017, which the town had transferred in 2010. Thus, the entire castle has belonged to Buštěhrad for about four years.

In the past, the regional leadership wanted to turn the heritage site into a representative regional residence, but this ultimately fell through. The property is known from the corruption case of former governor David Rath (previously of the CSSD). Rath filed a constitutional complaint this summer against the verdict in the first branch of the corruption case, in which he received a seven-year prison sentence and also a ten-million monetary penalty and a ban on activities for securing an advantage in the awarding of a public contract and damaging the financial interests of the EU. The High Court found guilt in cases of influencing tenders for the reconstruction of the Buštěhrad castle in the Kladno region and the building of the gymnasium in Hostivice.
