Buštěhrad - Buštěhrad wants to own the regional part of the chateau as well. One part belongs to the city, housing the city council, while the other part belongs to the regional authority and is set for reconstruction. The representatives of Buštěhrad approved the submission of a request to the Central Bohemian Region for the return of the chateau with the park to the ownership of the city during Wednesday's meeting. The town hall informed about this on the city's website www.mestobustehrad.cz.
According to the city leadership, coexistence with another owner of the chateau could bring future problems. "Although finding a suitable partner or funding for restoration will certainly not be easy, we preferred to make decisions about the chateau ourselves over selling it to a Ukrainian investor who wanted to build a hotel in the chateau," the official statement from the town hall states.
Last year, the city invested, among other things, in the repair of the facade of the northern part of the chateau, while other spaces in the central part of the building are also waiting for repairs. An information center is set to start operating in the ground floor of the city's part of the chateau after modifications.
The reconstruction of the dilapidated part of the Buštěhrad chateau was advocated by former Central Bohemian governor David Rath (then ČSSD), who was convicted of corruption in handling contracts, including one for the repair of Buštěhrad. Last year, the Prague High Court annulled the verdict.
The previous leadership of the region wanted to use European subsidies for the repair of the chateau, but due to a change in subsidy policy, it was, according to former governor Miloš Petera (ČSSD), not possible. The cost of repairs is estimated at 100 million crowns.
This year, the city of Buštěhrad, with over three thousand inhabitants, is managing a budget of approximately forty million crowns.
