Hradec Králové - The Town Hall of Hradec Králové is preparing to announce an architectural and landscape competition for the use of the attractive Rozárka area on the hill at the southern edge of the city. Only architects under the age of 35 will be able to apply for the competition. They should provide the town hall with an idea of how to address the area of approximately 2.5 hectares in the future. This was stated today by the Deputy Mayor Jindřich Vedlich (TOP 09).

The Rozárka location is favored by residents of Hradec as a viewpoint, offering a nice view not only of the city but also of the Krkonoš and Orlické mountains. In the past, the city conducted a survey among the public, where people preferred its use for sports and recreation. This is taken into account in both the current and the upcoming new urban plan of the city. In the past, a ski lift operated in Rozárka. Currently, the area is covered with grass and trees, and at its edge in the lower section stands a private building.

According to Vedlich, in addition to trained architects, architecture students will also be able to submit their innovative ideas for the competition. "Unlike other architectural competitions, this competition will conclude with an ideation proposal. No further stages of project documentation will be done," said Vedlich. The costs for the competition and the rewards for the best and most interesting proposals are expected to reach 270,000 crowns. Members of the jury will include, for example, the mayor of Hradec, Zdeněk Fink, and architect David Vávra. The town hall expects to evaluate the competition in November.

The city anticipates that it will also address the area of the forest park north of Rozárka in the future. This area adjoins the largest housing estate in Hradec, Moravské Předměstí, and is, unlike Rozárka, owned by private owners. Last year, the city attempted to obtain a grant of up to 25 million crowns from the Proměny foundation for the transformation of Rozárka, but was unsuccessful.
