Ostrava - The beverage group Kofola will build its new headquarters in the New Bath building within the historic premises of the Hlubina Mine in Dolní Vítkovice in Ostrava within two years. The expected costs for the revitalization of the cultural monument and its surroundings will exceed 230 million crowns, with approximately 57 percent of this amount covered by the European Union. Kofola has now completed the tender process for the construction contractor, which will be handled by the company IPS Třinec. Kofola announced this today in a press release.
The architectural design of the new Kofola headquarters was created by architect Josef Pleskot. In addition to offices, an interactive museum of the Kofola brand will be established in the building. Visitors will be able to learn about the brand's history and the family company's vision along the visitor path. "From the very beginning of our intention, our effort was to save and make this significant national cultural monument accessible to the public," stated one of the founders of Kofola ČeskoSlovensko, René Musila, who has been in charge of the Kofola - Home in the Heart of Ostrava project since the outset.
Kofola purchased the New Bath building back in 2016. "We are pleased that after years of unpredictable COVID, a challenging energy and economic crisis, we have managed to start fulfilling our dream. We will revitalize the heritage-protected building that has written the story of many miners, and after the renovation, we will make it accessible not only to our employees but also to the general public," Musila stated.
The company IPS Třinec has committed to completing the renovation within 500 days from the start of construction. They will build wall structures, modify surfaces, and connect new water and sewage lines. The building will receive new interiors and facades, electrical installations, air conditioning, and ventilation. Additionally, a glass extension will be created to allow views of the Dolní Vítkovice area from above.
"The building will primarily serve administrative functions complemented by an exhibition circuit. The external brick facades will be restored, and new windows will be made according to the original arrangement. Inside the building, open office spaces will be created, the two-story area of locker rooms will be horizontally divided by an inserted floor, while the historical locker system will remain preserved," Musila noted.
Kofola has been based in Ostrava since 2006. It is one of the leading producers of non-alcoholic beverages in Central Europe, with 14 production plants across five European markets. It has approximately 3,000 employees.
