Hradec Králové - The Town Hall of Hradec Králové will announce an architectural-landscape competition on July 25 for the use of the attractive area of Rozárka on the hill at the southern edge of the city. Only architects born in 1981 or later will be able to enter the competition. The city council approved the competition conditions today, and participants will be able to submit their designs until October 26. CTK was informed by the Town Hall spokesperson Magdaléna Vlčková.

The Rozárka area, which covers about 2.6 hectares, is a popular spot for Hradec residents as it offers a beautiful view of the city, the Krkonoš mountains, and the Orlické mountains. "The competition should find a suitable combination of land use for sports and relaxation in nature, while the winning design must respect the unique slope's use, preserve the view of the city, and the panorama of the mountains in a way that revitalizes the place," said Vlčková. The winning proposal will serve as a basis for future city decisions on how to appropriately utilize the area.

In the past, Rozárka, which has an elevation of 276 meters and rises about 50 meters above its surroundings, housed a ski lift. Since 1992, when the Hradec skiing club left the area, the territory has been deteriorating. The site is overgrown with grass and trees. Last year, the city sought a grant of up to 25 million crowns from the Proměny Foundation to transform Rozárka but was unsuccessful.

The competition will be a single round. The jury will evaluate individual proposals based on the quality of the overall design solution. The author of the winning proposal will receive a reward of 80,000 crowns.

According to the Town Hall, the competition should also generate ideas that could attract investors. "They would help the city realize the appropriate and cultivated use of this unique place. We want to give a chance to emerging architects, who should demonstrate their creative potential," said the chief architect of the city, Petr Brůna.

The city anticipates that it will also address the area of the forest park north of Rozárka in the future. This area adjoins the largest Hradec housing estate, Moravské Předměstí, and is, unlike Rozárka, in the hands of private owners.
