Milíkov - The Cheb Museum plans to renovate and open to the public a historic farm in Milíkov. It aims to utilize funding from the Integrated Regional Operational Program for this purpose. The modifications and new exhibition are expected to cost 24.4 million crowns, said the spokesperson of the regional office, Jana Pavlíková, to ČTK today. Preparatory work is already underway at the farm.
The timber-framed farm in Milíkov, the oldest parts of which date back to the late 18th century, was purchased by the Karlovy Vary Region in 2008. Thanks to the care of the previous private owner, it has been preserved in a way that reflects the original purpose of the farm as an independent agricultural unit through the changes that the estate underwent after World War II up to the phenomenon of cottage recreation.
The aim of the planned renovation is to utilize the potential of the Cheb farm for organizing educational and cultural events for the public and to establish an educational ethnographic exhibition in the original spaces of the historical building. The exhibition is set to introduce visitors to the history of the farm, the typology of timber-framed buildings in the Cheb region, the everyday life on the farm, small-scale crafts and home production, as well as the specifics of Cheb folklore.
A key element of the new exhibition consists of the restoration, conservation, and craft repair of 84 exhibits, 70 of which come from the furnishings of the farm, while the remaining 14 items will be selected from other collections of the Cheb Museum.
