Hotel in Davos by H&deM

So far, Davos has been dominated by another pair of architects - Gigon/Guyer. Now, a new high-rise hotel project by Herzog & de Meuron is set to take over the city. The capacity of the Schatzalp hotel (Alpine Treasure) had become insufficient, so its owners decided to nearly double the number of existing 93 rooms. The resulting design was created as a critical response to the four- to five-story family guesthouses in the so-called "Heimatstil" increasingly infesting valuable land. The hotel tower occupies a minimal footprint, has no main or side facades, and offers breathtaking views in any direction.
