FN Olomouc has launched a new oncology pavilion with a chemotherapy station

Olomouc – The Faculty Hospital Olomouc (FN Olomouc) today opened a new oncology pavilion costing nearly 262 million crowns. This will improve access to modern treatment for oncology patients and increase the capacity of outpatient care. The hospital also acquired a new chemotherapy station. The construction of the pavilion began two years ago in September, and the hospital received a grant of 217.9 million crowns from the National Recovery Plan of the Czech Republic. The pavilion will serve patients starting in early March. This was stated by the director of FN Olomouc, Roman Havlík, to journalists today.

According to Havlík, the establishment of the new pavilion has settled the long-term debt FN Olomouc had towards oncology patients, as the oncology outpatient clinic had previously operated in a decades-old panel building. "Patients had to move in undignified spaces for the present time, both from the perspective of construction, technical, and hygienic standards," stated Havlík.

The new oncology pavilion designated P4 has six floors. The ground floor contains the outpatient section of the oncology clinic. The other above-ground floors include the outpatient section of oncology, a chemotherapy station with expanded bed capacity, a palliative outpatient clinic with an application room, a room for the placement of vascular access points and care for them. The top floor is reserved for the clinical trials department, a seminar room designated for education and professional seminars. The facility will also include offices for two psychologists, a physiotherapist, and an ambassador for oncology patients.

The new building is connected to the neighboring outpatient pavilion of the hematology-oncology clinic by link bridges. Construction workers built a new parking lot with 134 spaces next to the pavilion. On the southern facade of the building, the roof, and shelters above the parking lot, technicians installed a photovoltaic power station.

FN Olomouc is part of a network of 11 university hospitals managed by the Ministry of Health. The hospital has over seventy departments. Two years ago, it had 1,229 beds and at the end of 2024 recorded 4,243 healthcare and non-healthcare employees. It treats more than one million patients on an outpatient basis each year. Two years ago, it recorded 55,000 hospitalizations in its inpatient departments. Doctors at FN Olomouc perform approximately 34,000 operations annually.
