We are introducing the concept of ROOF DOORS to the market

A terrace on a flat roof, roof gardens, urban beekeeping, relaxation zones between roofs. This is a beautiful use of free and open space between roofs, which has many interesting forms even today. “I like such spaces; I feel good in them. It is my working hobby to develop and manufacture glazed roof exits. We are introducing the term ROOF DOORS to the market. Jokingly, but honestly, I say that these accessed spaces will delight both romantics and developers. Some will enjoy it and others will profit.” says Jakub Formánek on behalf of the Czech manufacturer.

A smart solution for accessing the terrace and comfortable roof doors mean a thermal insulation element that will illuminate and open up the access path to the roof. You will gain a pleasant staircase incline and the desired width suitable for everyday use. “No ladders and almost-ladders. We have developed a real long-term solution for modern houses with flat roofs as well as buildings with sloped tiled roofs. For gentlemen in hats and ladies in high heels. After several years of development, we have introduced two standard products to the market that address a comfortable route to the roof terrace.” adds Jakub Formánek. These are SLIDING ROOF DOORS and TILTING ROOF DOORS.

SLIDING or TILTING ROOF DOORS Solara?

Both concepts of fully-glazed Solara roof doors allow you to pass through the roof by means of a staircase with a pleasant incline, sufficient headroom, and a clear passage of up to 800 mm. This will fully illuminate the entire space. The length of the standard roof doors is 3.4 m, and in a shortened version, it is 2.8 m. The Solara documentation also includes a recommended design for the staircase arm and reveal shape.
“The two products differ in several technical parameters. The advantages of the sliding solution include, for example, the possibility of manual operation, direct exit from the staircase, or the possibility of expanding the area with fixed glazing. The advantages of the tilting solution are saving space on the terrace, less slope for rainwater drainage, or exit from the staircase to the left/right side.” states Jakub Formánek.

Technology and design of standard roof doors Solara

Solara roof doors are equipped with designer fully-overhanging glass, have the option of a complete set of electrical control including fully integrated, hidden electric openers, wind-rain sensors, and safety sensors, a backup power supply, and other useful components. The surrounding frame is prepared for direct connection to PVC or tiled roofing. The roof is the most thermally stressed part of the house during winter and summer fluctuations. Thermal insulation processing here must be excellent – 3-glass, double sealing between the frame and sash, and a very warm sandwich frame of the roof doors are included in the basic version.
