Liberec - A complete replica will be built on the site of the demolished Technika Pavilion in the exhibition grounds in Liberec. Although the city wanted to preserve at least the brick basement of the atypical oval building, also known as the casino, the builders had to demolish that as well. This was reported today by Deputy Mayor Jiří Janďourek (Mayors for the Liberec Region).
"It was not possible to save it, as the roots of a nearby growing tree damaged the foundation structure," said the deputy mayor.
The pavilion, built in 1946 according to the design of architect Svatopluk Technik, originally served as an entrance facility to the exhibition grounds during the summer season. Later, it housed a popular disco with a pub, but in recent years, the building had no use and fell into disrepair. The wooden structure was attacked by dry rot, which is why it was necessary to demolish the building.
The replica of the architecturally valuable structure will be built by the company Čekro CZ by June of next year. The city will pay over 42 million crowns for it, with about two-thirds of the costs covered by a European grant. After completion, there will be a branch of the city information center with facilities for tourists.
