Roundabout in Komořany
Jihlava - Batelov in the Jihlava region wants a new roundabout, which will be part of the revitalized square, to feature a sculpture by the artistic blacksmith Leopold Habermann. The costs have not yet been determined. The sculpture, which Habermann named Infinity, will be installed next year. The placement of artworks in the middle of roundabouts is not common in the Vysočina region, ČTK found out from the contacted towns. Třebíč wants to give a unified appearance to them, while Pelhřimov wants to discuss unified decoration with the city architect that they are seeking.

"The Pelhřimov City Hall is currently selecting a city architect with whom the topic of placing decorations on roundabouts in Pelhřimov will also be discussed next year," said Andrea Unterfrancová from the Pelhřimov City Hall. Currently, the roundabout in Pražská Street is adorned with a giant chair, which is the work of a local high school. It is over four meters tall and was created in 2013, when it was recorded among Czech records by the Agency Dobrý den. Last year, the agency proposed placing a giant shopping basket at another roundabout near Kaufland, but the residents of the town rejected it in a poll.

According to the mayor of Batelov, Jiří Doležal, the object in the middle of the intersection also has a certain safety impact. "We want to ensure that the intersection is not visible, so that people concentrate and primarily watch who is coming from the left," said the mayor. He did not specify the costs for the object. "If the whole square will cost 35 million crowns, then it probably won't be such a significant item," he said.

Třebíč will uniformly combine stone and flowers at the roundabouts. The resulting decoration, which the city wants to place next year, is inspired by rosettes (circular openings with stained glass) on the Basilica of St. Prokop, which has been, along with the Jewish town, a monument listed on the UNESCO World Heritage List since 2003. The roundabouts in the streets Velkomeziříčská, Samešova, Míčova, Rafaelova, Táborská, and Znojemská, as well as in Václavské náměstí, will receive a unified decoration.

In Žďár nad Sázavou and in Jihlava, there are no artworks on the roundabouts. Jihlava is also not interested in their unified appearance, said Aneta Hrdličková from the Jihlava City Hall. Two intersections in the city with a mining past are currently adorned with miner's carts, while elsewhere there are only bushes and flowers. Jihlava wants to place an artwork in the center of a roundabout only within the framework of the planned transport terminal.
