Jihlava – The Vysočina Region has selected a contractor for the construction of a new building for the regional office in Jihlava for approximately 400 million crowns in an auction. Participants in the tender now have a fifteen-day period to file appeals. If no one takes this opportunity, the region will sign a contract with the contractor. The two-year construction project could begin by the end of the year. This was stated to journalists after today's meeting of the regional council by the director of the regional office, Zdeněk Kadlec.

The region received seven bids for the contract. The auction, which took place last week, managed to reduce the originally offered prices by nearly 60 million crowns. "If the contract is signed on schedule, and if no one files an objection, we expect to properly hand over the construction site still this year," Kadlec said.

The new building on the premises of the regional office is expected to be used by currently detached workplaces. Some of these are housed in rentals, while others are in buildings that could potentially be sold later, said Vysočina Governor Jiří Běhounek (for the ČSSD) earlier.

The region has 490 employees. The site for the new building is located near its headquarters, at the corner of Žižkova and Ke Skalce streets. The Project Office of the Vysočina Region, Vysočina Tourism, and Vysočina Education are also expected to move to the regional headquarters.
