Veselí nad Moravou - The renovation of Míru Square in Veselí nad Moravou in Hodonín district is culminating after ten years. The city is launching the third and final phase of the modifications, which includes the construction of 83 parking spaces, new sidewalks, and landscaping. The costs will reach 21 million crowns, and it is expected to be completed in July. With the completion of this phase, the city will gain a modern, functional, and aesthetically valuable center, stated Mayor Petr Kolář (TOP 09) on the website.
In the first two phases of repairs in previous years, a relaxation zone with space for pedestrians and cyclists, as well as an area for cultural and social events, was created in the square. Since last year, a private investor has been building a residential building there. The city is now following up on this work by modifying the area behind the post office building and behind the future residential building.
"This phase is a symbolic completion of the long-term transformation of Míru Square. It is not just about construction adjustments, but about creating a quality public space where people will feel good and where they will be happy to return," said the mayor.
Workers are currently building a retention tank for capturing rainwater, which will be connected to a new drainage system and will contribute to better water management. Furthermore, there are plans for the relocation of utility networks, including gas pipelines, communication lines, and street lighting.
