July INTRO, which is now available for purchase at the official e-shop, opens the theme of water and bridge constructions as presented by architect and bridge engineer Petr Tej. It seeks answers to questions such as why we should not build bridges merely as engineering works, how to restore disrupted relationships between cities and watercourses, or how to deal with structures that no longer meet current needs, together with a number of prominent Czech and international figures from the fields of architecture and construction.

These include Swiss civil engineer and theorist Jürg Conzett, Belgian architect and structural engineer Laurent Ney, architect, urban planner, and professor Rafi Segal, Swiss engineer Andreas Galmarini, Danish architect Jesper Henriksen, renowned British designer Ian Firth, architect, theorist, and educator Miroslav Šik, or architect Radek Šíma, who is, among other things, the author of the Dvorecký Bridge – a new architectural landmark that this year crossed the Vltava River between Zlíchov and Podolí and which you can find in the pages of the new edition of INTRA. Additionally, the project of a new footbridge connecting Roztoky and Klecany, expected to be constructed next year, is also introduced here, as well as the ongoing battle about the demolition of the Vyšehrad railway bridge in Prague. (More here)

From international projects, you can look forward to, for example, the pedestrian bridge in Albi designed by Ney & Partners, which is "suspended" on a railway viaduct from 1865, the iconic bridge named The Bicycle Snake (Dissing+Weitling) that solved a long-term urban planning issue in the center of Copenhagen regarding the conflict of interest between cyclists and pedestrians, or the ShenZhong Link (Dissing+Weitling) – a mega project of global parameters that serves as a transport connection between the cities of Shenzhen and Zhongshan.
