Prague - The Prague City Hall will announce a tender worth approximately seven million crowns for the preparation of documentation for the construction of a new hall for the Dance Conservatory, which the city is establishing. City councilors decided on this today. The new hall is to be built in the block near Jan Palach Square, which the conservatory shares with the AAAD (Academy of Art Architecture Design). According to councilor Vít Šimral (Pirates), the total construction of the hall is estimated to cost about 150 million crowns.
"The hall will be used for daily instruction in practical specialized subjects, in this case, dance, with a teaching space for about twenty times two students," said Šimral. He added that the conservatory currently has to use the hall of the Prague Conservatory in the nearby Na Rejdišti street.
According to Šimral, the hall will provide a space for the public to present the school's work results with an audience capacity of 100 spectators and a stage for 30 performers. "Let's hope that the actual construction will begin next year," said the councilor.
According to information from the city hall, the project documentation will build on a previously conducted study by AAAD, which confirmed the feasibility of constructing a hall in the courtyard of the building. According to earlier information, AAAD plans to renovate its building; in 2018, the city hall signed a memorandum with the school about joint progress on the works.
