Brno - Approximately 60,000 visitors attended the building trade fairs that ended today in Brno. This is about six thousand people fewer than last year. This is evident from the information released today by the Brno Fairgrounds. The participation of around three hundred companies also decreased to 809 exhibitors from 19 countries. According to fair spokesperson Jana Tyrichová, the event attracted 60,000 visitors from 31 countries, even though the construction machinery sector was missing this year at the exhibition center. The exhibitors' displays particularly attracted those planning a renovation, building a family house, or changing their interior. According to the organizers' estimates, they made up about 70 percent. This year, visitors could observe, for example, the construction of a fully functional passive mobile house. "Visitors were guided through the construction of the house and its key moments by experienced professionals who design, build, or supply components for buildings meeting passive standards," stated Tyrichová. The event was also complemented this year by professional seminars, for example, on energy-efficient building. "The further development of construction will be influenced not only by new information technologies but also primarily by the reduction of energy intensity. This leads to changes not only in building design but also in the development of new products and technologies," said Pavel Křeček, chairman of the Czech Chamber of Authorized Engineers and Technicians in Construction. The building trade fairs, together with the Mobitex furniture fair, are among the largest exhibition events in Brno. However, like some other fairs, they are struggling with reduced interest from exhibitors. The Brno Fairgrounds had to cancel some events last year and this year as well. Recently, they scrapped the June utility vehicle fair Autotec.
