Prague - Prague Airport has announced a tender for a designer who will prepare the documentation for the authorization and implementation of a new underpass between the future railway station and Terminal 1. Construction is expected to begin at the end of 2029 and be completed in the third quarter of 2031. The airport announced this today on its website. The project is coordinated with the preparation of the railway connection to the airport, which is to be put into operation around 2030.

The project includes the construction of a reinforced concrete tunnel tube that will connect the future railway station with Terminal 1 and possibly with Parking House C. It will also feature an exit in front of the terminal and direct access to its building. The station itself is not addressed in this project.

The aim is to ensure a safe, comfortable, and barrier-free route for pedestrians. The underpass will reduce pedestrian traffic on the surface in front of the terminal, thus lowering the risk of accidents with cars. At the same time, it will facilitate the movement between the station, terminal, and parking house, helping to improve traffic in the area.

The project for modernizing the railway from Prague to Kladno, with a connection to Václav Havel Airport, consists of 11 buildings, some of which are completed and others are under construction. The entire line is expected to be modernized by 2029 or 2030, with costs nearing 50 billion crowns.

From 2017 to 2020, the Railway Administration (SŽ) commissioned the reconstruction of the Negrelli Viaduct in Prague. Since last August, the new station in Bubny and the stop at Výstaviště have been in operation. Trains also run between the stations Kladno - Ostrovec and Kladno. The modernization of the line from Ruzyně to Kladno has a valid building permit, and this year SŽ will begin looking for a contractor for the work in the section between Výstaviště and the new underground station in Dejvice.
