Karlovy Vary - At the same time as the reconstruction of the Goethe Lookout, Karlovy Vary will also modify the access road. The road, like the lookout tower itself, has not undergone a major reconstruction for decades. Whether the road will be freely passable for cars will be decided, according to Deputy Mayor Čestmír Bruštík (independent), he told ČTK.

"Currently, the access road is being prepared, where certain parts of the road will be modified, milled, and compacted. New alpine-type guardrails will also be installed, meaning metal posts and wooden crossbeams that will prevent people from falling off the slope,"
described Bruštík.

The narrow road will also have passing places created during the reconstruction. The road will then be taken care of by the Karlovy Vary Spa Forest Management. Only they will decide whether the road will remain for pedestrians only or if cars will be allowed to reach the lookout.

The pseudo-Gothic lookout tower, which has been closed for years, is undergoing reconstruction costing 40.4 million crowns including VAT. About half of the costs have already been incurred. The interiors have been modified and the sewage system has been connected. Subsequently, the city plans to improve and enhance the area around the lookout tower, with reconstruction expected to be completed in the autumn.
