Residential construction has begun at the site of the former Primona textile factory in Česká Třebová

Česká Třebová – A private investor has started to build the first residential building on the site of the former Primona textile factory in Česká Třebová in the Orlickoústecko region. The previous factory buildings have been demolished in the past. Further residential construction will follow, said the company's manager Pavel Rosenbaum.

The residential building will have 32 apartments ranging from 1+kk to 4+kk. "Two more residential buildings of the same size will follow, for which we have obtained a building permit. However, we will only build them depending on the demand of potential buyers," said Rosenbaum.

The residential building will feature underground parking and outdoor parking spaces, terraces, and balconies. "Two apartments will even have their own gardens that will adjoin the slope that is there," Rosenbaum stated.

According to Mayor Zdeněk Řehák (3PK – For Prosperous ČT), the city is also planning residential construction, wanting to build rental apartments. Česká Třebová owns, for example, the area of the former Böhm Plast-Technik company, which it purchased. In part of the area, a new pavilion for a senior home is being built.

The area of the former textile factory in Česká Třebová is located on the left bank of the Třebovka River in the Parník area. Part of it is still home to the company Niťárna, which was part of the textile production in the city before 1989. Since 2000, it has been an independent enterprise.

Textile production existed in Česká Třebová since approximately the mid-19th century. Primona was established as an independent national enterprise in 1969 and operated in this capacity until 1978. It then became part of the Orlickoústecká Perla again. After privatization in 1990, it became independent again.

In the following two decades, the company repeatedly experienced losses. The court declared bankruptcy for the indebted textile factory in August 2003. The proposal was submitted by five entities, including Primona itself. The textile factory primarily produced shirting and pajama fabrics, employing around 370 people.
