From a total of 275 projects, the jury of the international conceptual competition Nouveau Palais de Justice de Paris selected the best designs. Contestants proposed a new Paris judicial building, which would house the Tribunal de Grande Instance (TGI) de Paris.

It turned out that the competition site is suitable for the given construction program - the placement of the TGI - while respecting the zoning plan, which anticipates residential development and greenery on the left bank of the Seine.
In the professionals category, where 200 designs competed, three proposals were selected as winners, and seven others received awards. Interestingly, each of the three winning designs utilizes a different formal language and treats the Freyssinet Hall differently. From 75 student designs, the jury selected five proposals as winners, and two others were awarded. From the Czech Republic (which was one of the 107 represented countries), the organizers received a single proposal authored by Andrej Fencl, which unfortunately did not win any awards.
The organizers assess the competition as very successful. The jury praised the exceptional quality of the competition materials and pointed out the whole course of the competition as an exemplary example of utilizing an architectural conceptual competition to ignite urban debate. The competition will now be followed by an exhibition of all proposals, and on December 15, 2006, there will be a public debate, which will also include the chairman of the jury, M. Fuksas.
