Extensive reconstruction of the swimming pool hall at the Vodní svět SAREZA!!! and the connection of the indoor area with the outdoor area via a terrace is complete. The reconstruction started at the end of August 2024 and was completed in June 2025. The reconstruction was carried out according to the design of PROJEKTSTUDIO architect David Kotek, and the contractor for the work, totaling 82.5 million crowns, is the HOMOLA DRŽIK association.

"The reason for this reconstruction was the emergency condition of the reinforced concrete structure of the swimming pool basin, insulation of the roof and walls of the swimming pool hall, including the replacement of the existing inadequate polycarbonate glazing, but also overall modernization and enhancement of services for visitors. The reconstruction also included a new feature in the form of an installed electronic safety system, which will promptly detect any health issues of visitors and immediately relay this information to the lifeguard on duty," states Jan Dohnal, the mayor of the city.

The original swimming pool basin was replaced with a new 25-meter stainless steel basin. The size of the pool has been preserved, and swimmers now have 5 swimming lanes available, with a massage bench located in the corner of the sixth lane and stairs into the water for easier and more comfortable access for visitors.

The technical solution included a complete replacement of structures such as new floor heating, waterproofing, tiles, and cladding on the terraces and walls. In the interior of the swimming pool hall, a children's paddling pool has been newly added, and a relaxation area (air beds, massage benches) has been created directly in the swimming pool basin. Indoor renovations were followed by outdoor improvements, which included complete insulation of the building envelope in this part, roofing, and facade, replacement of glazing, and overall enhancement of the outdoor terrace. There was a connection between the indoor area and the outdoor specifically through the outdoor terrace with a turnstile placement.

"Significant funds were allocated for the reconstruction and expansion of the swimming pool technology machine room and the replacement of the swimming pool technology itself. In the future, we expect to install a recycling line at this center leading to savings on pool water and heating, after evaluating the operation of the installed line at the Indoor Pool Ostrava-Poruba. The reconstruction also includes a partial renovation of the shower areas by the pool and a complete replacement of the technical distribution in the technology corridor. During this extensive reconstruction, the complex operated at a limited capacity, and the wellness center, steam baths, fitness center, and solarium were in operation. We thank all visitors for their patience and look forward to seeing you in the newly reconstructed premises," concludes Jaroslav Kovář, the managing director of the city company SAREZA.

From the Archive of the City of Ostrava: On May 9, 1963, the new baths with an indoor pool were ceremoniously opened in Ostrava, which, due to the nearby Čapek Sokol Hall, began to be popularly known as "Čapkárna". Their construction lasted four years – two years longer than originally planned – and cost over 9 million crowns. The project was authored by Ing. Jan Chválek from the Regional Design Institute, and the realization was entrusted to Ground Construction Ostrava. The operation of the building was managed by the Municipal Services of the City of Ostrava, as it included not only the pool but also bath tubs, showers, steam baths, a sauna, tanning beds, hairdressing, etc. Since 2003, the complex has been part of the SAREZA company, and from 2008-09 it underwent modernization. Today, it is referred to as Vodní svět.
