The company Autodesk, a global leader in design software, introduced new product suites for creating digital entertainment at SIGGRAPH 2009. These product suites, compared to purchasing separate licenses for individual products, allow artists, production companies, and educators access to more creative tools while saving on costs. When used together, the products in these suites help artists enhance their creative abilities and optimize productivity.

“Autodesk presents affordable suites of popular 3D tools to facilitate the creation of innovative entertainment for artists in today's challenging economic conditions,” says Stig Gruman, vice president of Autodesk Digital Entertainment Group. “These suites significantly expand artists' capabilities and provide them with a great range of creative tools (from highly detailed modeling to advanced real-time animations), enabling them to tackle creative challenges in new ways.”

Autodesk introduced the Autodesk Entertainment Creation Suites and Autodesk Real-Time Animation Suites for commercial use. The company also introduced the Autodesk Education Suite for Entertainment Creation for higher education educators and the Autodesk Animation Academy 2010 for high schools.

Product Suites for Commercial Use

Autodesk Entertainment Creation Suites
The Autodesk Entertainment Creation Suites, Autodesk's flagship offering, gives customers a choice between Autodesk Maya 2010 or Autodesk 3ds Max 2010 – along with Autodesk Mudbox 2010 and Autodesk MotionBuilder 2010. Mudbox software helps artists create highly detailed models more quickly and intuitively. MotionBuilder software enables artists to create animations in real-time, providing them with more interactive creative feedback and efficient handling of large amounts of data used in animation. With Autodesk FBX 2010 data exchange technology, these product suites provide a cohesive and efficient production workflow. Supplemental toolkits enable artists to better handle challenging production tasks and achieve higher quality results more efficiently and cost-effectively. Autodesk Real-Time Animation Suites
The Autodesk Real-Time Animation Suites are designed for production involving complex animations. This product suite, in addition to MotionBuilder 2010, offers a choice of Maya 2010 or 3ds Max 2010 software. MotionBuilder software allows animators to create 3D animations in real-time and provides them with a specialized set of animation tools for faster and more efficient creation and processing of large amounts of data and their manipulation.
